Let’s start with the final “normal” AtW of the year …
Featured Album
Majid Bekkas - Joudour
Moroccan musician Majid Bekkas has been weaving African Gnaoua with jazz and blues for 30 years or more. It has been 20 years since the release of “African Gnaoua Blues” on Igloo records. Early last month the same record label released Joudour.
“Originally from Zagora at the gates of the Sahara where desert music, Aqallal or Roukba rhythms lulled his childhood, Bekkas has preciously treasured a spirit of authenticity while preserving and safeguarding Gnaoui music, whose secrets and intrinsic universality he has penetrated.” More here
Also on the show
Happy Christmas … Vesel božič … Sretan Božić … Feliz Navidad … Wesołych Świąt …Nollaig Shona duit … God jul … عيد ميلاد سعيد … and so on around the world. I don’t normally “do” Christmas shows, but this year I have added a few tunes of a seasonal flavour from England, Ireland, Norway, Slovenia, Poland, Dominica, Cuba, Jamacia, and Lebanon.
