This week’s Featured Album - PROBLEEMID PARADIISIS by SADU
SADU “Luukered”
SADU are an Estonian trio working where alternative pop, Nordic folk traditions and emotionally direct songwriting meet. The group brings together vocalist and multi‑instrumentalist Sandra Sillamaa, (formerly with Trad.Attack!) vocalist and violinist Sofia‑Liis Liiv, and guitarist‑producer Frederik Küüts, with drummer Robert Leht joining them in the live setting. Their debut album, Probleemid paradiisis (released September 2025), is a ten‑track exploration of vulnerability, inherited patterns and quiet emotional tension, blending folk instruments such as bagpipes and flutes with contemporary production and strong melodic writing.
The album’s impact has been immediate: SADU have been shortlisted in five categories at the Estonian Music Awards 2026—Debut Album of the Year, Album of the Year, Band of the Year, Ethno/Folk Album of the Year, and Song of the Year for “Igavene.”
Wesli - “Blackman Samba”
Wesli (Wesley Louissaint) is a Haitian‑Canadian musician whose work blends Haitian roots, Afrobeat, rara, vodou rhythms, and contemporary global sounds.
Wesli was born in Port‑au‑Prince and later settled in Montreal, where he became a prolific guitarist, producer, and songwriter. His breakthrough came with Rapadou Kreyol, which won the 2019 Juno Award for World Music Album of the Year .
His albums explore heritage, resistance, and diaspora identity, including the expansive 24‑track project Makaya, rooted deeply in Haitian spirituality and history
Derya Yıldırım & Grup Şimşek - Cool Hand - Live at Diamond Mine
Derya Yıldırım & Grup Şimşek are a standout force in contemporary Anatolian psych‑folk, blending bağlama‑driven tradition with dreamy psychedelia and global grooves. Their newest release is Yarın Yoksa.
Derya Yıldırım & Grup Şimşek have carved a distinctive place in modern Anatolian music, pairing Yıldırım’s expressive vocals and bağlama with warm synths, electric saz, and hypnotic rhythms. Their sound bridges Turkish folk heritage with European psych, soul, and global pop sensibilities. The band continues to evolve creatively, and their forthcoming album Yarın Yoksa marks a significant new chapter, offering fresh arrangements, poetic songwriting, and a richer, more expansive palette. With tracks like “Çiçek Açiyor” and “Direne Direne,” the record promises a vibrant, emotionally charged journey rooted in tradition yet boldly contemporary.
