This week’s Featured Album - Ye Vagabonds - All Tied Together
Ye Vagabonds - On Sitric Road (Live at The Lilliput Press)
Ye Vagabonds’ All Tied Together is the duo’s fourth album, deepening their long dialogue with Irish song while moving further into contemporary, personal territory. Released in January 2026, it gathers twelve originals shaped by the Mac Gloinn brothers’ instinctive harmonies, their string‑based arrangements, and a circle of collaborators who widen the sound without disturbing the intimacy at its core. The title signals the record’s central concern: the threads that bind people to place, memory, and one another in unsettled times.
The Journal of Music In Ireland calls the album “firmly grounded in the experience of post‑crash Ireland,” describing the songs as vivid vignettes of moments, people, and places. It highlights the housing crisis as a quiet but persistent undertow, from the rueful recollection of “we were singing in the kitchen/when the bailiffs charged” in The Flood to the fragile hope of Where the Heart Lies: “This is where I lay down… This is where I linger/And where I’d like to stay.” The review praises the album’s clear‑eyed portrayal of belonging in modern Ireland.
Diarmuid and Brían first came to prominence through Myles O’Reilly’s intimate film recordings, where their harmonies drew early attention. Their 2017 debut blended originals with reimagined ballads; The Hare’s Lament (2019) offered a fully traditional set that won multiple RTÉ Radio 1 Folk Awards; Nine Waves (2022) expanded their reach with a confident mix of tradition and innovation.
Critics see All Tied Together as both consolidation and progression: larger in scale, more personal in tone. KLOF Mag notes songwriting that feels “vital” and “absorbing,” rooted in lived experience rather than inherited stories—a humane, quietly radical insistence on tenderness amid social and economic strain.

Souad Massi - D’ici, De là-bas (Clip officiel) ft. Gaël Faye
Souad Massi’s recent work marks a powerful new chapter in her long career as one of North Africa’s most distinctive voices. Her collaboration with writer‑rapper Gaël Faye on D’ici, de là‑bas brings together two artists shaped by exile, memory, and the search for justice. The song intertwines French and Arabic, using poetry as a form of resistance and insisting on a shared humanity across borders. It stands as a clear thematic bridge toward her forthcoming album Zagate, due on 6 March 2026. Souad Massi
Massi introduced this new era with Samt, a first single built on Afrobeat styles, producer Justin Adams’s guitar work, and her unmistakable voice.
Adams, who produced her previous album, Sequana, has also produced Zagate, bringing together an impressive cast—including John Baggott, Billy Fuller, Youssoupha, and Gaël Faye—and explores themes of anger, hope, and resilience across the Franco‑Algerian experience. Massi’s songwriting continues to blend folk, rock, and poetic introspection, reaffirming her place as a vital voice of exile and renewal.

Dani Larkin - Caledonia Live from The Dead Rabbit New York | That’s Deadly Unplugged
Dani Larkin’s Next of Kin marks a confident step forward for the Armagh–Monaghan songwriter, released to an enthusiastic reception and praised for its expressive, cinematic folk sound. The album explores family ties, renewal, and the fragile spaces between endings and beginnings, delivered with the clarity and emotional depth that have become her hallmark.
Across its eleven tracks, Dani blends traditional influences with broader influences. Among the standout moments is her interpretation of Caledonia, the much‑loved song written by Scottish singer‑songwriter Dougie MacLean. Her version - which I’m playing on the show - stretches to nearly six minutes, unfolding with warmth and restraint, and sits comfortably alongside originals that reflect her growing confidence as both writer and performer.
Critics, including Hotpress who scored the album 9/10, have highlighted Next of Kin as a hugely rewarding album. “Next Of Kin may very well make Dani the north’s next big thing.”
